Hello. I'm curious to know, in your respective and esteemed opinions, where the closest beach might be from the city center of Florence... would it be located in, say, Livorno (I'm just looking on a map right now)? What's the best? Something in Cinqueterra? How far away are these places? Thank you!
I will recommend you to go to Viareggio. You can take either the train or the bus. The buses stops just next to the beach, while the train station is located 5-10 walks away. You should go early in the morning, because its getting really crowded.
The beaches near Livorno are nice as well, but I think those in Viareggio are more easy to reach, especially if you don't have a car.
If you are staying in Italy for a while, you should not miss la isola di capri and la costa amalfitana. These places are just amazing!!! You can take the train from florence to napoli, and from here you can take the local train to sorrento. From sorrento you can very easily reach places like positano and amalfi. You can take the bout from sorrento to capri. It leaves at least two times a hour, and it takes only about 25 minutes.
Hope this was of some useful help! Don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions.
I recommend you to go to Santa Margherita Beach, near Rapalo, Genova. It's a beautiful place. You can take the train directly from Santa Maria Novela train Station.
Hey guys and girls!!! The best beaches in Tuscany are located in the Maremma Area, Southern Tuscany..The best places are: Punta Ala, Cala Violina, Castiglione della Pescaia, Rocchette, Alberese (wonderful!). Also the Tuscan Islands are wonderful: Elba, Giglio, Giannutri, etc.
If you don't have a car we recommend 5 Terre in Liguria Region. If you are looking for nightlife go to Rimini (one of the best places for fun in Europe!). Viareggio, honestly, is not so good even if it's the closest to Florence.
